Well, what a miserable day! The weather was rubbish and the rain seemed to keep everyone away. We’d like to say a big thank you to the clubs that did come, especially Cruise Wirral and Birkenhead Cruise, who braved the weather and stayed till the end.
We’d also like to apologise for the lack of traders, we feel we were really letdown by several traders not turning up without warning.
We’ve also been listening to what you guys have to say and it seems that a lot of you don’t want to pay £3. Unfortunately the way the show is set up at the moment there are a lot of expenses and the £3 entrance fee doesn’t even cover the cost of the show.
From the beginning we wanted to put an event on for car clubs and cruisers at as little cost you as possible. However we’ve added more and more features like DJs, awards, trophies, models, raffles, fairground rides etc. We’ve also had a club stand booking procedure so each club can have its own section of the car park. However all this requires more money, time and staff.
We feel that all this effort, hard work and cost, is overkill for a monthly show. We tried to give you all the features of a big yearly show, with the low price and frequency of a monthly meet. However we seem to of got distracted from what the show was originally about. Meeting up with your friends and having access to all kinds of modified car industry traders in one place.
Going forward, we’re going to streamline the event. We’ll have less features, lower prices and more traders.
So what’s going to change?
We will be doing away with the awards for car of the show, club of the show etc. But we will be replacing these with fun and games with crowd participation, weather permitting. The fairground rides will not be returning.
Example FM will still be broadcasting live from the event. We will be packing the hall with traders, with a list on the website so you can see who will be there and what they sell. We will try and find sponsors and organise more raffles and giveaways. The models will still be there and you’ll be able to get your picture taken and download it for free. The burger vans and bar will still be open.
Most importantly to you, the modified car enthusiast, we will be knocking £1 off the entry price.
